Desert of Love and Sorrow — Prelude

Let us first sing:
The grudges and feuds of the desert’s children fade, but we can only lament how fleeting life is.
No deity is seen to show mercy, and yet we scatter our tears and dreams while drinking in the night.
The wild sand blows in gusts, the wind howls in turns;
Fate brings us together for a moment, but sorrow follows.
How can one forget? The fleeting ecstasy shared with you!
Fearlessly, we live most freely; without complaint, we drink with our dearest friends.
Everyone becomes a ghost forgotten on the River of Oblivion, yet upon meeting, we cannot go our separate ways.
The wild sand leaves no trace, the wind leaves no trace;
Fate brings no regrets, nor does hatred.
How can one remember? When the promises you made turn to ashes!
