The Mob Character Who Reincarnated in an Otome Game Is an Ally of the Heroine — Part 2

“If... if you’re free today, maybe you could help with the student council work again.”

She says this with a deep blush on her face, probably because she’s talking to me while my childhood friend is around.

Truth is, I’m in the student council too. My position? General affairs. As you might have guessed, I got roped in by my childhood friend. Yep.

As per the classic setup, the capture targets (main love interests) are student council members, so naturally, the heroine interacts with them.

“Ah, good morning. I’ll be counting on you again today, Sakuramiya.”

She smiles brightly in response to my childhood friend’s reply, looking absolutely adorable. My childhood friend, watching her, seems just as pleased.

They look like they’re on the verge of becoming a couple.

Yes, I’m rooting for this heroine. Partly because I want my friend, who isn’t very fond of women, to find happiness, but also because she’s genuinely a good person.

When she helps with student council work, she doesn’t just flirt with the capture targets; she actually helps out seriously.

When she first started high school, she wasn’t particularly good at studying, and her cooking skills were lacking, but she’s now in the same elite “S Class” as us, having worked hard on her studies.

She’s also improved at cooking, and the snacks she brings to the student council are delicious.

If she were just some reincarnated, boy-crazy girl, I’d be seriously annoyed. But she’s dedicated to getting closer to the capture targets through genuine effort, which I respect.

Because of her efforts, any harassment she faced from the fan club of student council members seems to have subsided, and she’s now accepted.

I sometimes see people giving her encouraging words.

Just as I’m thinking about how impressive she is…

“I brought snacks again today. Brown sugar cookies. You said you liked them before, Shinoyama-kun.”

Sakuramiya calls out to me.

“Oh, sweet! Thanks. I’m impressed you remembered.”

“It’s not like that—I just brought them for everyone in the student council, that’s all!”

“You don’t have to worry; I won’t eat them all by myself. Your cooking is too good for that. I’d get cursed if I hogged it all.”

“Flattery will get you nowhere.”

“Well, I was the one who tried all your experimental recipes last year, remember?”

She blushes bright red and falls silent, clearly embarrassed about me mentioning it in front of my childhood friend.

“Oh, by the way, Sakuramiya, about the documents from yesterday…”

“Oh, did you find out where to submit them?”

“Yeah, turns out we just need to give them to the vice-principal.”

“Understood. Thank you very much.”

When my childhood friend speaks to her, she switches to a business-like, polite tone, going full-on professional mode. She uses honorifics with all the student council members as if it’s part of her work mode. It’s nice that she can switch like that, but since we’re all classmates, she could just talk normally.

As the three of us head to our classroom, we hear a cheerful voice from behind.

“Shinoyan, Akacchi, Sakura-chan, good morniiiing!”

Just as expected, it’s the school’s playboy standing there. A stereotypical flashy student council member, and yes, he’s the treasurer.

“Hey, good morning. Still as flashy as ever, huh?”

“Good morning, Kihara-kun.”

Sakuramiya and I greet him back. Meanwhile, my childhood friend gives him just a brief glance and then completely ignores him.

Future CEO over here really could use a few social skills.

“What? Akacchi ignored me? Isn’t that harsh?”

“Yeah, man, even if he doesn’t care, he could at least give you a response.”

“Shinoyan, you’re worse! That’s just adding insult to injury under the guise of sympathy!”

“Yes, that’s right. Even if it’s annoying to deal with this level of energy so early in the morning, it’s still nice to say hi back.”

“Sakura-chan! I’m more hurt by the current situation than by being ignored!”

Yeah, he’s the kind of guy who’s easy to tease. Sakuramiya also seems to be enjoying herself while playfully picking on Kihara. Even my childhood friend watches with a slight smile.

Flashy as he may seem, he’s a good guy. He and Sakuramiya seem to get along, as I occasionally see them chatting or him patting her head. Not a reverse harem, but it seems like he’s earned some affection points.

“Oh, by the way, Sakura-chan, did you bring any snacks today?”

“Yes, I did. Brown sugar cookies.”

“Oh, I see! Shinoyan’s favorite! Shinoyan, don’t mind if I—”

Wham!

Sakuramiya’s bag hit Kihara’s face directly.

“Oops, my hand slipped. Sorry about that.”

She’s smiling, but it’s a bit terrifying.

Meanwhile, my childhood friend just mutters,

“That’s what you get for trying to say something unnecessary, idiot.”

My childhood friend gives an exasperated sigh.

Kihara apologizes, looking genuinely sorry. Apparently, I’m the only one who thought this reaction was a bit much. Maybe there's some kind of understanding between the heroine and the capture targets.

Noticing my gaze, Sakuramiya just smiles it off, saying, "It’s nothing," and the four of us head to the classroom.

Incidentally, all the second-year student council members, including the flashy guy, are in S-Class.

“Hey, good morning! Did you all finish the homework?”

And there he is.
