Heaven and Earth are divided into three realms: the Ancient God Realm, the Realm of Immortals, Demons, and Ghosts, and the Mortal Realm.
The Ancient God Realm is home to the gods, with the four True Gods—Shang Gu, Zhi Yang, Bai Jue, and Tian Qi—standing as its supreme leaders.
One hundred and thirty thousand years ago, the Chaos Calamity struck the three lower realms, and to prevent the Goddess of Chaos, Shang Gu, from sacrificing herself, the True God Tian Qi, having glimpsed into the future, set up a deadly blood array in the Abyssal Marsh. His intent was to trade the lives of all living beings in the three realms for Shang Gu’s safety.
To save the three realms, the Goddess of Stars and Moon, Yue Mi, led other gods to the mortal realm to stop Tian Qi from completing the blood array. However, she and the other gods were ensnared within the array’s core, where all the gods fell, leaving their souls to forever linger in the Abyssal Marsh, transformed into statues that would keep a solitary watch.
Later, when the Chaos Calamity arrived, Shang Gu sacrificed herself, sealing the Ancient God Realm in dust. No one in the three realms remembered these events. More than sixty thousand years later, when the Ancient God Realm reopened and the four True Gods returned to their positions, everything appeared as it had been in the past. Yet, all memory of the Goddess of Stars and Moon had faded from the vast chronicles of the Heavenly Realm.
In the Cang Qiong Realm, as the statue of the Goddess of Stars and Moon dissolved into stardust, the last tear that fell from her eyes became the one haunting memory Tian Qi could never overcome.
For sixty thousand years, a relentless war raged between the realms of immortals and demons. In the first few millennia, the two sides claimed a grudge as deep as the seas, creating a chaos that even the union of Heaven and Earth couldn’t seem to quell.
But this endless strife suddenly ceased after Bai Jue transformed into ash in the Abyssal Marsh to save the three realms. Before the Heavenly Emperor or the Demon King had time to announce a truce, the armies of both realms withdrew quietly, as if by mutual understanding, clearing the battlefield completely.
In the following decades, the once-militant Demon Lords withdrew to their lairs, reluctant to even step a foot beyond their realm’s borders. Bai Jue’s self-sacrifice to save the three realms made it clear that if the immortals and demons continued their destructive battle, the three ancient gods remaining in the Ancient God Realm would not hesitate to strike them down.
In this state of survival, where madness leads to death, both realms finally took a much-needed rest.
This rest lasted fifty years.
During that time, Tian Qi withdrew from the Ancient God Realm to live in quiet isolation in his palace on Zi Yue Mountain.
Demons, as creatures born of Heaven and Earth, vary in appearance; some become grotesque during evolution, while others retain alluring beauty. Of all the Heavenly Realm’s ten-thousand-year history, Tian Qi stood out as the most captivating figure. As the gods of the Ancient God Realm would say, his appearance was indeed Heaven’s creation, neither excessive nor lacking in any way.
If the number of female immortals who had once pined for Bai Jue could have lined up outside Peach Blossom Forest, then those who admired Tian Qi could circle the entire Ancient God Realm. Such was his reputation that it lent him an air of pride and satisfaction. Of course, these were the words shared among the elder gods and their disciples when recounting old stories. And few would disagree—hundreds had witnessed the awakening of the True God Tian Qi at the wedding of the True God Bai Jue in the Cang Qiong Realm. His beauty and unparalleled demonic power left an impression that lingered for centuries.
Thus, even though Bai Jue’s heroic self-sacrifice was celebrated across the realms, the female immortals and demons secretly discussed Tian Qi with greater passion.
It wasn’t that these women were ungrateful; rather, Bai Jue and his consort in the Hall of Pilgrimage already had a child. That marriage was unbreakable, and no one dared to interfere. And so, for decades after the gods’ awakening in the Ancient God Realm, Tian Qi was universally regarded as the most eligible bachelor in the Nine Provinces and Eight Wastelands of the Three Realms.
