I Lost a Bet and Made a Fake Confession, but It Turned Out the Girl Was My Fiancée and We Were Already Living Together — Part 3

She relaxed at my words, letting her weight fall entirely against me.
Unable to support both of us, I ended up tumbling onto the bed with her.

“Seriously, does being with me really make you feel that safe?”

I muttered quietly, knowing she probably couldn’t hear me.
Nagisa, with a peaceful expression, had already drifted off, her breathing steady.

Carefully, I laid her down on the bed, kneeling beside her. As I looked at her face, I gently stroked her head with a smile.

Living together for the first time, I got a close look at her face, and it was undeniable—she really was the kind of beauty that could be called the most beautiful girl in school, someone who captured everyone’s attention.

At the same time, though, her unguarded expression had a childlike innocence to it. It was a little immature but still incredibly cute—and, of course, I couldn’t help but find her utterly endearing.

I was certain no one at school had ever seen her like this.
That thought alone gave me a slight sense of superiority.

“Honestly, I have no idea what she sees in me.”

My grades are average, I’m mediocre at sports, and I have so few friends I could count them on two hands.
In contrast, Nagisa excels in both academics and athletics, is great with people, and is beautiful—a popular class idol.

The only thing connecting us is that we’re childhood friends who both enjoy video games.

That’s probably why I tolerate her coldness and don’t want to let her go.

“Yeah, I’ve completely fallen for her,” I muttered with a wry smile.

Well, she might dominate me in this relationship, but that’s fine.
We’ve got our own way of making it work.

“Good night, Nagisa.”

I said it softly, even though I knew she wouldn’t hear, and then laid out my futon and went to sleep.

The next morning, Nagisa was already gone by the time I woke up.
Rubbing my heavy eyelids, I headed to the living room, where breakfast was already prepared.

“Oh, good morning, Suzuya.”
“Morning, Nagisa.”
“Breakfast is ready, so let’s eat together.”
“Thanks.”

We sat down and ate breakfast together.

“Hurry up; it’s time to go to school.”
“Ah, see you later.”

I shifted my attention back to the news program on TV.
Since she usually doesn’t want us to go to school together, I always leave the house a little later.

“Did you hear me? I said we’re going together.”
“Huh?”
“Come on, get ready.”
“W-What? What’s with the sudden change?”

Usually, she refuses outright when I suggest going to school together, but today, she was the one insisting.

Completely baffled, I grabbed my bag and asked her why.

“Well, we’re supposed to be a couple now.”
“But weren’t we going to say we broke up...”
“It doesn’t matter!”

When I brought up our conversation from yesterday, Nagisa simply said, “I changed my mind,” and didn’t elaborate further.

Deciding to just go along with it, I turned off the TV and followed her out of the house.

When we arrived at school and walked into the classroom, a wave of shock rippled through the class.

It wasn’t just because we had arrived together—it was because Nagisa had been clinging to my arm the entire time.

The other students were completely frozen in disbelief.

Finally, one of the guys managed to ask her a question.
“N-Nagisa, are you really dating Sora Hara?”
“Yes, we’ve been dating for a while now.”

Her unwavering declaration carried an overwhelming force that silenced any further objections.

But one boy wasn’t willing to give up so easily.
“B-But what’s so great about someone like him?”
“Well, for starters, he’s a far more attractive person than someone like you who talks badly about others.”
“Ugh...”

Nagisa’s sharp retort left him speechless.

Satisfied, she turned her attention back to the class and, loud enough for everyone to hear, delivered a finishing blow.

“But if I had to name one thing…”

Her gaze shifted toward me, and in the next instant, I felt something soft against my cheek.

Nagisa had kissed me.

The entire class—and even the students in the hallway who had gathered to watch the commotion—erupted in shock.

But the most surprised of all was me.
After all, that was my very first kiss with Nagisa.

As if to savor my dumbfounded reaction, Nagisa glanced at me out of the corner of her eye with a satisfied smile, then turned to the others and confidently declared:

“Everything.”

I glanced at her, and her cheeks were faintly red, betraying her embarrassment.
In a quiet voice, so no one else could hear, I asked her why she did it.

She averted her gaze slightly and muttered softly, “It’s nothing. I just thought I’d be a little honest for once.”

Stunned by her words, I stared at her as she continued.

“You know, I like you more than you probably realize.”

Her cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red as she said it.

Looking at her flustered face, I couldn’t help but think:
Yeah, my fiancée really is the cutest in the world.
