Master’s Heart is Poisoned — Chapter 35. Part 1

When I awoke, I was no longer in that miserable village.

The first thing I noticed was the elegant decor surrounding me, lavish but not overbearing. It was the kind of room where every detail reflected sophistication and care. A soft, melodic voice came from nearby, accompanied by hurried footsteps. The words they spoke were anxious and respectful:

“Master, she’s awake! Master, she’s awake!”

I turned my head and saw a boy around 17 or 18 years old standing near the bed, looking out the window and yawning lazily. Beside him stood a younger boy, around 15 or 16, with a sword strapped to his back. He looked at me with sharp eyes, his gaze carrying a mix of amusement and scrutiny. Then he turned away and addressed someone outside:

“Second Senior Brother, she’s awake.”

The second senior brother entered at once, looked at me, and immediately furrowed his brows. With some displeasure, he said, “You’re finally awake. Do you feel like eating porridge, or would you prefer soup?”

This tone… was more like someone speaking to a child than to an actual person.

Still, he wasn’t wrong. In my current state, I truly appeared to be no more than a child.

I didn’t answer, not because I didn’t want to but because I hadn’t yet fully processed where I was. The second senior brother frowned slightly. He wasn’t as stunning as the first boy, but his features were refined and noble. Judging by his attire, he was likely another disciple of the immortal master.

This “second senior brother” didn’t seem like a particularly warm person. He sat casually and leaned closer to examine my face. He muttered to himself, “How strange…” Then, turning to the first senior brother, he added, “We’ll send her down the mountain later.”

What?!

No way! I couldn’t leave. I still needed to drink their master’s blood!

The first senior brother seemed hesitant. “We’re really sending her down? I heard the villagers said she doesn’t have a family and that their mountain has been unsafe lately. She’s just a little girl, so she’ll suffer terribly. If… if something happens…”

Exactly! What if something really happened to me? Even if I wasn’t human, I was still following their rules. Shouldn’t that be enough reason to keep me here? Besides, wasn’t their master supposed to be the most benevolent being in the world? Surely he wouldn’t just throw me out to fend for myself!

The second senior brother shot him a look and replied coldly, “This is our mountain, not an orphanage. Besides, I don’t believe she truly doesn’t have a family. What kind of parents would abandon their child to this extent?”

I was about to speak up, but the emotions from being saved and the bitterness of rejection overwhelmed me. Tears blurred my vision as I clutched the bedsheet tightly and muttered, “Master… Master, please save me…”

At that moment, the room fell silent. The second senior brother’s sharp gaze softened slightly. He turned toward the doorway and shouted, “Master! You must come here! She’s calling for you and insists she’s not just a child!”

Moments later, a faint aura of warmth swept into the room. Standing in the doorway was a figure clad in flowing white robes, his expression calm and otherworldly. He looked at me with an indifferent gaze, as though my plea had not moved him in the slightest.

The second senior brother gestured toward me and spoke in a tone that sounded more like a report than a request: “Master, she keeps calling for you and claims she’s not just some ordinary child. What should we do with her?”

The man in white remained silent for a moment. Finally, he spoke, his voice as gentle as the spring breeze:

“She’s already this small—what else could she be? Tell her if she wants to stay, she must abide by our rules.”

That little boy! How dare he dismiss me like that?!
