Master’s Heavy Heart — Chapter 2. Part 1

When I first accepted Qian Zhi as my disciple, I granted him a hundred years of cultivation. Although it wasn't much, I would need to cultivate for decades to fully restore my vitality.
There are still about ten years before my vitality is restored. I entered the Demon Suppression Pool, and in the chaos, I saved Qian Zhi, who was about to be torn apart by demons. However, as soon as I emerged from the pool, I fell into a coma.
The evil energy entered my body and disturbed my soul. I estimated in my mind that I wouldn't be able to wake up without at least a hundred or eighty years.
But this hundred or eighty years was just my own estimate. At the moment, I could only lie there, hearing sounds but unable to see any movement around me, unable to do anything. All I could do was listen to the younger disciples sigh one after another, worried that the "Immortal Master" might never wake up.
"You all really don't think highly of me…"
Before Qian Zhi's incident, I had sent Qian Gu out on a mission, so it wasn't until over a month after I fell unconscious that he returned to the Kong Ling Sect and saw me, whom the juniors said "would never wake up."
I still remember that day—the birds outside the house were singing harmoniously, and the wind rustling through the willows brought a sense of peace.
But from the moment Qian Gu opened the courtyard door, I started feeling incredibly distressed.
When he entered, I could hear the sound of his knees hitting the floor, and it hurt me to listen.
"Master," he called softly, but there was no response. After a long while, he finally came to my bedside. Then, after a long pause, I felt his fingers gently tracing my face. It wasn't an intrusive touch, nor did it feel like obsession; it felt more like a devout follower reverently touching the deity they worshiped.
For a disciple to touch my face like that, I guess this one really is a rare example in the world of unspoken love.
I sighed inwardly.
"Master," he whispered in my ear, just as he did the day I was drunk, except this time his mind was clear, and in his voice was a determination I couldn't have imagined: "I will make you wake up."
I could wake up on my own, you don't need to worry about that...
I couldn't speak, only listening to his footsteps grow faint, and then hearing him argue with Qian Zhi outside:
"Senior Brother, you can't go!"
"Move aside."
"You can't go to find Yue Lao Hong! Everyone in the martial world knows the rules there! If you go to her, what will you do?"
Hearing the name Yue Lao Hong, I was also shocked. The Yue Lao Hong Qian Zhi mentioned is a female demon. Her cultivation is not weak, and over the centuries, she has refined numerous spiritual pills, claiming that there is no one she cannot save. However, her medicine is only given to those who seek it for their dearest loved ones. Yet, despite having many loved ones, few go to her for medicine because she has one more condition:
A life for a life.
The person seeking medicine must serve as a test subject. She is an extremely evil creature.
Qian Zhi pleaded with a heavy heart: "Senior Brother, if you go, won't you expose the feelings you've hidden for so long to the world? How will Master face the Kong Ling Sect then! And that Yue Lao Hong... she demands lives."
Qian Gu was silent for a long time: "Qian Zhi, from now on, you will be my only disciple. I implore you to calm your heart and not let her worry and be disappointed."
"Senior Brother! Senior Brother!"
The outside noise faded.
I felt that I was already enough of a source of worry and disappointment. Setting aside all the complications, from an essential perspective...
Do you all really not believe that I can wake up on my own?
Perhaps some time passed, but Qian Gu eventually managed to get the medicine. However, he returned by sword and personally helped me take the medicine beside my bed.
I opened my eyes and looked at him, whose eyes were slightly moist, and for a moment, I didn't know what to say. I could only sigh and ask, "Where is Qian Zhi?"
Qian Gu paused: "The disciple will go get Qian Zhi back."
"Get him back?" I frowned. "Did he go with you to find Yue Lao Hong? Did she keep him?" I asked clearly, and this time Qian Gu showed a rare expression of shock.
"Master, how did you know..."
I threw off the covers and got out of bed: "I will go save him and tell you more later."
