The Supreme Goddess Bai Shuo — Chapter 47. Part 1

“Daoist Bai, what are you doing here?”

Bai Shuo was feeling dizzy from Hua Da Tie’s loud howling, when Ming Xin hurriedly ran over from the corner of the street with a few Yun Xiao disciples.

At the same time, two powerful forces of spiritual energy approached them.

Oh no, he mustn’t let them realize something is wrong with Fan Yue. Glancing at Fan Yue, who was covered in blood, Bai Shuo quickly grabbed his sleeve, saying, “Mumu! Hide quickly!”

Fan Yue clung tightly to Bai Shuo’s hand, unwilling to let go.

“Obey!” Seeing Bai Shuo’s urgency, Fan Yue reluctantly transformed into a small vine, curling around Bai Shuo’s wrist.

Hua Da Tie gasped in surprise, but Bai Shuo swiftly covered her mouth, whispering, “Little Sister, don’t tell anyone Mumu is here.”

Hua Da Tie nodded repeatedly.

“What’s going on here?”

Two flashes of light, and Nan Wan and Bei Chen appeared simultaneously on the street. Moments before, they had been meditating at the inn, but the spiritual disturbance on the street had alerted them.

Bei Chen’s face was expressionless, while Nan Wan’s expression shifted when he saw that it was Bai Shuo and Hua Hong making the commotion. Narrowing his eyes at Bai Shuo, he seemed suspicious.

Wasn’t this Daoist supposed to be resting in his room? Why was she here instead? Could she have already figured out the location of the Tomb of the Strange Ones and was just deceiving him earlier?

One look at Nan Wan’s expression and Bai Shuo understood—he assumed she had come out to secretly search for the Tomb of the Strange Ones.

This is such a huge misunderstanding!

“Your Majesty, you arrived just in time! There... there was a monster! It’s good you came; it scared it off!” Bai Shuo, pale-faced, quickly moved closer to Nan Wan as she spoke.

“A monster?” Nan Wan was surprised. “What kind of monster?”

“It had a human body, four claws, a tail, and was hideous!” Bai Shuo gestured dramatically with both hands and feet.

What kind of nonsense is this?

“As far as I know, there’s no such creature among the demons and evildoers,” Bei Chen said calmly.

Nan Wan also looked at Bai Shuo with suspicion, clearly not believing her.

“It’s true!” Bai Shuo was anxious. “If you don’t believe me, ask Little Sister Hua. She saw it too! The creature almost ate me!”

Nan Wan looked at Hua Hong, who nodded vigorously.

“That monster was filled with evil energy; it must be a malevolent spirit!”

“Ridiculous! The Evil City has a Spirit Lock Seal; how could there be a malevolent spirit in the city?” Nan Wan interrupted Bai Shuo with a stern tone. “Moreover, there’s no trace of evil energy here.”

“I’m not lying! That malevolent spirit was even...”

Bai Shuo didn’t get to finish her sentence, as Bei Chen raised his hand, gathering a sphere of celestial light in his palm, illuminating the dark street as if it were daylight. There was no trace of any evil energy, nor even the severed claw or blood that had been there moments before.

Bai Shuo was speechless, rubbing her eyes in disbelief.

What in the world?

Bai Shuo and Hua Little Sister exchanged looks, and for a moment, Bai Shuo didn’t know what to say.

Indeed, the Evil City was under the Spirit Lock Seal left by the former Heavenly Emperor Twilight. Not only could no malevolent spirits enter, but even Nan Wan and Bei Chen had their spiritual powers sealed while inside. If there was a malevolent spirit roaming about, the Spirit Lock Seal should have reacted. Yet, if what they saw wasn’t a malevolent spirit, what could it be?

“Just now… why did the Daoist stop talking?” Bei Chen asked indifferently.

“N-nothing. Maybe I saw wrong,” Bai Shuo replied gloomily, and Hua Da Tie seemed about to speak, but Bai Shuo discreetly tugged her sleeve.
