The Supreme Goddess Bai Shuo — Chapter 48. Part 3

“The sword cultivation of Kunlun is famous, and Yun Xiao isn’t a minor sect either.” Nan Wan looked at Chong Zhao indifferently and, with a wave, condensed a trace of celestial energy, sending it into the child’s body.

Sure enough, the child let out a soft groan and opened his eyes.

“Mother…”

“Huer!”

The woman hugged her child excitedly, and Chong Zhao also breathed a sigh of relief.

The joy was short-lived, however, as suddenly the child’s body turned red, his eyes glowed a bright crimson, and he let out a painful wail. His small body twisted and thrashed wildly in the woman’s arms.

“What did you do?!” The woman clutched her child tightly, shouting angrily at Nan Wan.

“How could this happen…?” Nan Wan was also startled. How could his celestial power not only fail to calm the spiritual energy in the child’s body but actually make it worse?

“I knew you celestial beings couldn’t be trusted!” The woman kicked a nearby table, shattering it into pieces.

My goodness, non-celestials truly have natural strength—this ordinary woman broke that table into splinters! Bai Shuo shivered at the sight of the shattered wood.

Concerned for her child, the woman didn’t want to get involved in a scuffle. Eyes bloodshot, she clutched her child and ran toward the door.

Hearing the commotion, many non-celestials from the street began to gather, ready to storm in.

“Mumu! Stop her!”

“Lord Ming Xin, quickly, guard the entrance and don’t let the non-celestials inside!”

Bai Shuo suddenly shouted.

The non-celestials already harbored deep resentments toward both the celestial and demon tribes. If a conflict erupted, it would be difficult to control.

Fan Yue, without hesitation, flashed forward to block the woman. Ming Xin hesitated briefly, but seeing Nan Wan’s lack of opposition, he promptly led the disciples to form a barrier at the inn’s entrance, keeping the non-celestials outside.

“Let us in! What are you doing?”

“Huer’s mother, what’s going on?!”

Familiar with each other, some of the non-celestials called out the woman’s name, attempting to force their way inside.

“Everyone! This child is ill!” Bai Shuo called to the non-celestials. “I am an herbalist; I can help him!”

Bai Shuo quickly turned and walked toward the woman. “Madam, let me take a look at your child.”

“Don’t touch my son! I’ll never trust you again!” The woman had no faith in Bai Shuo.

“Exactly! Huer’s mother, you can’t trust these celestials! Get lost and let us in!” The non-celestials outside were outraged, pushing against the Yun Xiao disciples in an attempt to break in.

Suddenly, the child in the woman’s arms began convulsing more violently, even breaking free and lunging toward Bai Shuo.

“Huer!” The woman rushed forward to catch him.

But Bai Shuo, quick on her feet, took a step forward, pried open the child’s mouth, and tossed a pill in.

“What did you give him?!” The woman was furious and picked up the child, kicking at Bai Shuo in her rage.

Bai Shuo vividly remembered the power of that kick from earlier.

“Mumu! Help!”

Before she could even call, the young man had already moved, pulling Bai Shuo back and standing protectively in front of her.

In the crowd, Chong Zhao’s extended hand froze in midair as he watched the two, his hand tightening inside his sleeve.

Mumu? Could this young man not actually be the Lord of Hao Yue Hall?

Chong Zhao noticed that the young man only had faint spiritual energy, lacking the overwhelming aura he’d shown on Huo Bing Island.

What was going on?

“Hold on! Madam, look at your child!” Bai Shuo peeked out from behind Fan Yue and spoke quickly.

The woman looked down and saw that her child was no longer struggling. The redness in his eyes had faded, and the blue tint on his skin was gradually disappearing.

The non-celestials outside the inn saw the child’s condition and stopped pushing.

The child turned his head drowsily, called for his mother, and then fell back into a deep sleep. This time, however, his breathing was steady, and a healthy color returned to his face.

“Hu’er!” The woman felt a wave of relief and hurried over to Bai Shuo. “Daoist, how is Hu’er?”

Fan Yue gave the woman a cold stare, making her hesitate and stop in her tracks, guilt showing in her eyes.

“Mumu.” Bai Shuo patted Fan Yue’s hand, then moved forward to check the child’s breathing, letting out a sigh of relief. “He’s fine; he’s just exhausted and needs a good rest.”

“Thank you, Daoist.” The woman quickly asked, “Daoist, what illness did Hu’er have?”
