The Supreme Goddess Bai Shuo — Chapter 57. Part 1

On Wu Tong’s Phoenix Island, in the Roosting Phoenix Pavilion, Jin Yao was observing the celestial phenomena when suddenly a star fell from the heavens, stirring a sense of unease within him.

He raised his hand, summoning a water mirror by his side, but the mirror was shrouded in mist, blocking any view of the Foreign City. Jin Yao frowned, pouring more celestial energy into the mirror, but the mist refused to dissipate.

Being a near-demigod, Jin Yao had the power to observe nearly any place in the world—unless someone within the Foreign City with a higher spiritual power had set up a barrier. However, the city was only supposed to be under the Twilight Sovereign’s Locking Spirit Array, and the Yiren King had already given him control over its core. Otherwise, Jin Yao would never have allowed the celestial and demon disciples to enter the Foreign City so easily.

“Yiren King!” Jin Yao called out from his spirit platform, but from a thousand miles away, there was no response.

Jin Yao opened his eyes, his expression darkening. “Someone, summon Elder Feng Xian!”

Meanwhile, in the Wu Tong Forest, a battered figure stumbled forward, only to be blocked by Phoenix clan guards, who immediately unleashed two streams of celestial energy.

“Who dares trespass on Phoenix Island?!”

The figure was struck by the celestial energy, letting out a muffled groan as they fell to the ground.

Under the moonlight, one of the Phoenix guards approached and, upon seeing the intruder’s face, gasped in shock, “Lord Nan Wan?!”

Nan Wan lay injured in the forest, his entire body covered in wounds, with nearly all his bones fractured and only a faint breath left in his spirit platform.

One guard hurried to support him. “Lord Nan Wan, weren’t you at the Wu Tong Martial Banquet? How did you end up here?”

“Quick… take me to see Master Jin Yao and my teacher…” Nan Wan coughed up a mouthful of blood, losing consciousness before he could say more.

“Lord Nan Wan!” The Phoenix clan disciples exchanged worried glances.

“Something’s gone wrong in the Foreign City!”

“Let’s go, quickly report to the elder and High Celestial Jin Yao!”

The two guards lifted Nan Wan, and in a flash of spiritual light, they vanished from the entrance of the Wu Tong Forest.

In the Roosting Phoenix Pavilion, celestial and demon leaders hurriedly gathered. Before Jin Yao could inform them about the strange occurrences in the Foreign City, Phoenix guards arrived, carrying Nan Wan with great urgency.

“Nan Wan?” The Yun Xiao sect leader’s face turned pale, and he quickly checked his disciple’s pulse.

His heart sank as he found that Nan Wan’s spiritual veins were shattered and his spirit platform was fractured, leaving only a faint breath keeping him alive.

“High Celestial Jin Yao!” The Yun Xiao leader, disregarding everything else, turned to Jin Yao for help.

Jin Yao immediately channeled a stream of spiritual energy into Nan Wan’s chest, and Nan Wan opened his eyes with great effort.

“Nan Wan, who did this to you?” the Yun Xiao leader demanded, his eyes red with anger.

“Master… High Celestial Jin… Jin Yao…” Nan Wan whispered, his voice barely audible.

Jin Yao stepped forward quickly. “I am here. Nan Wan, what happened?”

“High Celestial, my Yun Xiao disciples and I encountered an evil spirit on our way to the Foreign City. That spirit wounded me, took on my appearance, and infiltrated the Foreign City…”

“A spirit posing as you to infiltrate the Foreign City?” Jin Yao’s face darkened, recalling the Yun Xiao disciples he had seen in the water mirror. “What about the Yun Xiao disciples who accompanied you…?”

Nan Wan’s gaze filled with sorrow. “They… they all perished…” Another mouthful of blood spilled from his lips as he clutched Jin Yao’s sleeve. “High Celestial, the disciples from the Foreign City’s immortal sects… they’re in grave danger…”

Before he could finish, Nan Wan lost consciousness again.

“Nan Wan?!” The Yun Xiao leader’s face grew even paler.

“Don’t worry; I have stabilized his spirit platform with my spiritual energy,” Jin Yao said, his gaze turning icy as he looked toward the barren land. “I will see for myself what kind of malevolent spirit dares challenge both the celestial and demon clans at once!”

Moments later, several beams of spiritual light shot from the Roosting Phoenix Pavilion, heading straight toward the Foreign City.
