The Supreme Goddess Bai Shuo — Chapter 60. Part 4

"A Sealing Array?" Hua Hong murmured, looking at the huge formation. She knew it, but something felt different. When she had entered the core of the Sealing Array, its divine energy was gentle. But this golden array radiated pure hostility.

"Divine Fire." A calm voice broke the silence on the wall. Bai Shuo and Hua Hong froze, turning toward the source.

Outside the city, celestial and demon sect leaders stared at the array in shock.

"A Divine Array? How could a mere Foreign City contain a Divine Array?" the Yun Xiao Sect Master whispered in disbelief.

For a thousand years, since the closure of the Ancient Divine Realm, there had been no gods left in the Lower Three Realms. Even Jin Yao, who ruled over the Ninth Heaven Palace, was only at the level of a demigod. While there were rumors that the Hall Master of Hao Yue Hall, Fan Yue, had also reached demigod status, this was merely hearsay, as no one had ever witnessed him perform any divine feats.

"Someone has altered the Locking Spirit Array’s core, transforming this defensive city array into a god-killing array," Jin Yao stated gravely.

"Who would dare do such a thing? Could it be the Yiren King?" Chang Huo asked angrily.

"It’s not him," Jin Yao replied with a troubled expression. "Once activated, the God-Killing Array will annihilate all life within it and for a thousand miles around, reducing everything to ashes. The Yiren King and tens of thousands of Yiren are within the city—he would have no reason to do this. Moreover, shifting the core of a divine array requires at least the power of a demigod. He wouldn’t be capable."

A demigod? First, dark entities infiltrated the Foreign City, and now an unknown demigod hidden in the shadows? The Three Realms had been peaceful for centuries, and now catastrophe loomed!

"Rest assured," Jin Yao continued, "the Locking Spirit Array was left by His Majesty Twilight, a divine array with a soul. Even if someone managed to alter the core, they cannot destroy the dragon soul His Majesty left within the heart of the array. They can’t fully activate the God-Killing Array."

Hearing this, the crowd relaxed.

"Perhaps," Elder Feng Xian, who had been silent, spoke up. "But consider this: the young disciples of both the celestial and demon clans are in the city. What if they were sacrificed…"

"That wouldn’t be enough…" Jin Yao started to respond.

"And if the entire Yiren clan were included?" Feng Xian suggested, his voice solemn. Jin Yao’s face darkened.

At that moment, the golden dragon array blazed brighter, with the continuous sound of dragon roars filling the air as thick, black death energy blanketed the array entirely.

The exact moment dark energy enveloped the array was when Mumu called out Hua Hong’s title as a demon lord.

Standing on the city wall, Bai Shuo turned in shock to her young disciple beside her, hardly able to believe her eyes. Mumu was half-kneeling, a look of pain and struggle on his face, yet his gaze remained disturbingly calm and detached. Staring into those eyes, Bai Shuo’s heart tightened painfully for reasons she could not explain.

"Mumu…" she called softly, but the kneeling boy did not seem to hear her.

"Master! You’ve finally awakened!" Hua Hong cried, rushing toward Mumu and kneeling beside him. "Stop the Yiren King—he’s using the God-Killing Array as a blood sacrifice, with both celestial and demon disciples and the entire Yiren clan as offerings!"

"What?" Hua Hong’s initial joy turned to shock.

Bai Shuo, unable to make out what Mumu was saying, just stared at the boy, lost and bewildered.

"Master?!" A sharp cry broke the tense silence, startling Bai Shuo out of her daze. She stumbled backward, but a pair of hands caught her around the waist, holding her tightly.

"Shifu," her young disciple whispered close to her ear. Bai Shuo pushed him away and turned to face him.

"Mumu?!" Her voice trembled.

"It’s me," he nodded, his gaze clear and sincere.

In a surge of relief, Bai Shuo slapped his shoulder. "Thank heavens, you scared me half to death!"

Taking a deep breath, she added, "Lucky I survived that." Then, something seemed to cross her mind, and she turned urgently to Hua Hong. "What did that big demon just say about this thing?"

"It’s a God-Killing Array," Hua Hong replied grimly, as she cast a protective shield over Hu'er and his mother, then leapt into the air without a backward glance. "Stay here. I’m going back to the Yiren Palace!"

"Mumu, follow her!" Bai Shuo yelled without hesitation. The boy hesitated briefly, unlike his usual self.

"Mumu, Ah Zhao is still in the Yiren Palace!" Bai Shuo’s face was filled with worry. Her disciple hesitated no longer, grabbing her and taking to the air, flying after Hua Hong.
