The Hall Master of Hao Yue Hall had set up a barrier outside the palace—so how exactly did Little Immortal Bai manage to leave? And why did they take Fan Yue? Hua Hong was full of doubts. She had always been somewhat wary of Fan Yue, but since Bai Shuo had personally initiated a contract with the Fox Clan, questioning any further in front of this unfamiliar immortal would be inappropriate.
Two elders of the Fox Clan, both with snow-white hair, had been waiting outside Hao Yue Hall for half a day. Only when the fierce midday sun shone overhead and they saw the Hall Master of Hao Yue Hall leading Tianhu Yaohou [Heavenly Fox Demon Lord] and their own passive young clan leader outside did they finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Since the wedding invitations had already been sent out, if the bride didn’t show up, it would be a massive disgrace for Jingyou Mountain.
Chang Sheng glanced around in confusion and asked, “Why don’t I see Bai…”
“The Hall Master, the clan leader has been waiting for you at Jingyou Mountain for a long time.” Chang Wu pulled Chang Sheng over with a grin, then suddenly shot him a sharp glare before motioning towards Fan Yue.
Chang Sheng followed the gesture, glancing at the young girl standing beside Fan Yue in the snow. He said nothing.
Fan Yue acted as if they hadn’t noticed the two at all. With a casual movement, they grabbed A-Yue’s wrist and took off straight toward the Heavenly Fox Altar.
The Hidden Wind was a bitterly cold force, tightly wrapping around Fan Yue as they flew into the sky.
It wasn’t until the figures had vanished in the distance that Chang Sheng finally snapped out of his daze. His tone was filled with unease as he muttered,
“Hua, where did that woman come from?! Why did Fan Yue take a little fox with them? Where’s Bai?”
“Shut up.” Hua Hong was getting irritated and snapped coldly,
“If love works out, it becomes marriage. If it doesn’t, it falls apart. What’s with all this nonsense?”
Chang Sheng immediately swallowed his words. Hua Hong transformed into a streak of flowing light and left, while Chang Sheng quickly followed.
Chang Sheng glared at Chang Wu with a pained expression and muttered,
“Are you sure this whole marriage thing benefits Jingyou Mountain? Why do I feel like the Fox Clan is about to take over?”
“Be more confident. Drop the ‘seems like’ part.” Chang Wu exhaled deeply, grabbed Chang Sheng, and led the others in pursuit.
The wind howled mournfully, and the once-bustling Hao Yue Hall was left completely empty in an instant.
Jingyou Mountain, despite being called a “mountain,” was actually a massive valley spanning hundreds of miles, filled with spiritual energy. Towering ancient trees and lush green grass surrounded small streams, and the Fox Clan resided in elegant, ancient wooden dwellings. Unlike the cold and desolate Hao Yue Hall, Jingyou Mountain was full of vitality, appearing like a paradise untouched by the outside world. However, with the wedding approaching, red lanterns now adorned the valley, adding a touch of worldly festivity.
“It’s been some time since I last saw the Hall Master. I haven’t had the chance to congratulate you on officially ascending to the rank of Demi-God.”
At the grand wooden hall where the Fox Clan hosted their banquet, the Fox King leaned lazily against the throne, resting their head on one hand as they looked at Fan Yue with a grin.
The Fox Clan’s young leader, Chang Mei, was an exceptionally stunning woman, her every movement exuding a natural charm and elegance.
Hua Hong secretly observed her, noting the subdued atmosphere of Jingyou Mountain. Hao Yue Hall had always remained detached from the world, with little to no dealings with the Fox Clan. The rumors about the Fox King’s neutrality—neither siding with the immortal nor the demon realms—were hard to verify.
Just as Hua Hong was deep in thought, a faint and weak voice suddenly sounded—
“Aunt…”
“Shut up and wait.” Chang Mei interrupted impatiently, her gaze still fixed intently on Fan Yue.
A-Yue noticed that Chang Mei did not bother to hide her interest in Fan Yue, her eyes gleaming with a brief flash of coldness before anger arose in her heart.
“The Fox King’s divine power has also advanced another level.” Fan Yue spoke calmly.
“I merely spent these years refining my cultivation with the passing months and years.” Chang Mei smiled charmingly. “Eight years ago, the Hall Master was still just a lower lord, merely an unremarkable figure in the demon realm. But now, with such divine power, you are no longer beneath the level of a true god. Your name resounds through the Three Realms. If I had known earlier, I would have brought you back to Jingyou Mountain back then.”
“The Fox King is still as carefree and indulgent as ever!”
A sudden burst of laughter echoed from outside the hall. Fan Yue’s eyes flickered slightly, and everyone turned toward the entrance. A figure strode in with confident steps—it was Zhen Yu, followed closely by Zhong Zhao and Huo Zhu.
“I arrived late. Fox King, I must apologize.”
