Cosmic Dust Is Not as Precious as You — Chapter 10. Trajectories. Part 3

In the past, I would never have believed Lei Zi capable of saying something like this. Looking at him now, I felt an inexplicable emotion welling up inside me. Perhaps we had all changed—not just Lei Zi and Chen Qiao Luo, but all of us.

The narrow hallway fell silent as we stood there, neither of us saying a word. I don’t know how much time passed before Li Zi came stumbling out of the room. She threw her arms around me, crying and pleading, “Yun Hao, please don’t go to America. Stay here with us, okay? Please don’t leave.”

Her drunken words stung my heart like needles.

Tong Xiao Tian came over and gently supported Li Zi, apologizing as he said, “She’s had too much to drink. Don’t take her words too seriously.”

I nodded, but when I turned, I saw Lei Zi looking at us in shock.

The person I most wanted to keep my trip to America a secret from was Chen Qiao Luo. Thinking of this, I turned to Lei Zi and said, “Lei Zi-ge, I hope you can help me keep this from Chen Qiao Luo.”

Hearing this, Lei Zi looked confused. “Why can’t he know?”

Because I don’t want him to be sad. I answered silently in my heart.

I fell silent, then finally said, “I want Chen Qiao Luo to forget about me. I’m not the right person for him.”

Lei Zi didn’t agree to my request. He simply said, “Sorry,” and turned to leave.

I received a call from Chen Qiao Luo at nine that night. I was sitting in Xu Xuan’s car when he said he was waiting for me outside my home.

When we arrived, there he was, standing under the moonlight. His tall figure cast a long shadow. Hearing our footsteps, he turned around.

When he saw me with Xu Xuan, his body trembled slightly, but he quickly regained his composure.

After what felt like an eternity, Chen Qiao Luo was the first to speak. “I heard… I heard you’re going to America?”

The sadness in his voice made my heart ache. I nodded lightly and said, “Yes.”

“Why did you suddenly decide to do that?”

He spoke casually, but the bitter smile on his lips betrayed his true emotions.

Looking at him like this, I felt as if my heart was breaking into pieces.

Sensing my sadness, Xu Xuan spoke on my behalf: “Yun Hao’s mother is in the United States, and she wants her to stay there long-term. I’ll also be going with her this time, and we’ve decided to get married there.”

I knew Xu Xuan’s words were just a lie to help me deceive Chen Qiao Luo. He understood that Chen Qiao Luo was my weakness—the one person I least wanted to confront.

Hearing this, Chen Qiao Luo staggered back in disbelief, his eyes reflecting an ocean of sorrow. After a long pause, he forced a bitter smile and said, “Is that so? Then congratulations to you both.”

Xu Xuan glanced at him and replied softly, “Thank you.”

Before Xu Xuan could finish speaking, Chen Qiao Luo threw a punch at him. It happened so quickly that Xu Xuan had no time to react, and his face turned slightly from the impact.

I immediately rushed forward, supporting Xu Xuan as I asked anxiously, “Xu Xuan, are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” Xu Xuan reassured me, patting my hand gently.

Standing protectively in front of Xu Xuan, I looked at Chen Qiao Luo, who was consumed by jealousy, and shouted, “Chen Qiao Luo, what are you doing?”

“Zhu Yun Hao, step aside,” he said coldly, his gaze fixed on me.

“No,” I replied firmly.

Before I could say more, Xu Xuan pulled me behind him. He looked at Chen Qiao Luo and said, “A-Luo, I know you hate me, but what can I do? Matters of the heart can’t be forced. I hope you can give Yun Hao and me your blessing.”
