Cosmic Dust Is Not as Precious as You — Chapter 6. Blossoming. Part 3

Her piercing cry instantly drew the attention of everyone in the shop, but I didn’t care. I looked straight at Chen Qiao Luo and said, “Let’s talk.”

“Talk?” He looked at me as though I’d just told a joke, his gaze filled with scorn. “Zhu Yun Hao, what’s there to talk about between us? Aren’t you already with Gu Yu? Why are you coming to me now…”

“I was never with Gu Yu,” I interrupted him, taking a deep breath before continuing. “You misunderstood everything. Gu Yu only used me to provoke you.”

Chen Qiao Luo fell silent for a couple of seconds before speaking again. “And what difference does that make? You like Gu Yu. Even if he used you to provoke me, could you really stay indifferent to his confession?”

Seeing him like this, a wave of sadness surged within me. I looked at him, feeling a little disheartened, and said, “Chen Qiao Luo, you’re wrong. I stopped liking Gu Yu a long time ago. He was just someone who happened to appear in my life during a time when I loved to dream—a time that could never match reality. To be honest, his confession didn’t make me happy. Instead, it was your departure that hurt me more. Chen Qiao Luo, I’m saying all this because I want you to know that Gu Yu was never the important one. But you are.”

My words left Chen Qiao Luo silent.

The girl next to him, clearly unprepared for this turn of events, stood frozen in shock.

Ten seconds passed.
Thirty seconds passed.
A full minute passed.

I realized what Chen Qiao Luo’s silence meant.

Forcing a bitter smile, I looked at him and said, “Chen Qiao Luo, I understand now. Let’s leave things as they are and return to the way we were at our best. From now on, I, Zhu Yun Hao, will no longer be your friend. Even if we meet on the street, I won’t so much as glance at you.”

With that, I turned and walked away. Yet with every step I took, it felt as though my heart was bleeding.

At the street corner, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and crouched down, sobbing uncontrollably.

As I cried hysterically, someone suddenly grabbed me and pulled me to my feet. Before I could react, I found myself enveloped in a warm embrace.

Then I heard Chen Qiao Luo’s voice in my ear: “Zhu Yun Hao, what are you running for?”

Hearing his voice made me cry even harder. I pounded on his back with my fists, shouting, “Chen Qiao Luo, you’re such a jerk! What else was I supposed to do? Wait for you to humiliate me?”

“Who’s humiliating you?” Chen Qiao Luo released me, held my shoulders firmly, and forced me to look at him. A faint smile played on his lips as he said, “I was so stunned by what you said that I couldn’t even respond. And yet, you just ran off like a ghost disappearing into the night.”

His words brought a strange relief to my heart, but I still pouted stubbornly. “I don’t care. It’s all your fault. You made me upset!”

“Yes, yes, it’s all my fault. I made our little princess upset,” he teased. Then, with sudden seriousness, he looked into my eyes and said, “Yun Hao, please forgive me.”

The truth was, both of us had made mistakes in this whole mess. There was no real need for forgiveness. I stopped crying and looked at him earnestly. “Chen Qiao Luo, I’ve made mistakes too. Let’s put this behind us. I just hope we can avoid misunderstandings in the future. If there’s something to say, let’s say it in person. And if there’s something on your mind, don’t keep it bottled up.”

Chen Qiao Luo lowered his head, pondering for a while, before raising his eyes to meet mine. With a deep, intense gaze, he said, “You told me not to keep things bottled up, so let me tell you this now: the days without you have been unbearable. I’ve been in so much pain—so much that I couldn’t sleep at night, tossing and turning in endless sorrow. I wanted to come find you, but I was too afraid. Afraid that seeing you would shatter all the strength I was pretending to have. You see, Yun Hao, you’re everything to me. You’ve taken over my whole heart.”
