I Seem to Have Been Reincarnated, So I Tried to Get Everyone to Sensibly Handle the Broken Engagement—In the End, I Didn’t Even Know What "Serves You Right" Meant — Part 3

And so, I worked hard after that. I mean really hard.

In the game’s story, the heroine—and let’s be real, she’s usually a total airhead—caused chaos everywhere she went. To ensure her nonsense didn’t infect everyone around her, I discreetly but thoroughly influenced those in her orbit, guiding them to make reasonable, logical decisions.

Honestly, what’s the deal with the heroine’s love interests? They’re all major players destined for critical positions in the kingdom. It’s like the game is actively trying to destabilize the country. Even if it doesn’t completely ruin the nation, it still does significant damage.

Take the current prime minister’s son, for instance. He’s expected to become the next prime minister. I befriended him, helped him work through his issues, and discreetly supported his engagement to his fiancée, while also using our discussions to instill some common sense. On top of that, I ensured he understood how hard Lady Lilia was working to prepare for her role as crown princess, just in case the crown prince did something stupid.

Then there’s the next Duke Bahrenheim—Lady Lilia’s own brother. I did the same for him. I made him more aware of his sister’s efforts and occasionally arranged for the three of us to have tea together.

Frankly, it’s unforgivable that he could so easily abandon his own sister depending on the heroine’s choices. Family should stick together. That’s something even my great-great-grandchildren knew, thanks to my relentless love in my past life.

I extended this same approach to anyone in the crown prince’s entourage. It was exhausting. On top of all this, I still kept up with my own training. Honestly, I felt like I was one step away from working myself to death.

Whenever I was at my wit’s end, though, Lady Lilia would invite me for tea at the perfect moment. Of course, we weren’t alone—her brother or tutor would join us, as it wouldn’t be proper for a noblewoman with a fiancé to meet another man in private. Still, seeing her unyielding dedication always inspired me to push myself harder.

Though, honestly, it felt like I was the one being healed, rather than helping her.

Naturally, I also put in extra effort to handle the crown prince. I worked twice as hard as anyone else, constantly coaxing and encouraging him. Sometimes I even collaborated with his tutor to drill some sense into him.

Despite all that, he remained a useless idiot.

No, worse than that—a complete disaster.

Given the situation, I started filing regular reports with the king and queen about the crown prince’s behavior. I didn’t hold back in my… let’s call it “straightforward” observations. At the same time, I made sure to speak up on Lady Lilia’s behalf, ensuring her contributions didn’t go unnoticed and that she wouldn’t be harmed by the crown prince’s incompetence.

Even so, I didn’t abandon the crown prince.

No matter how much of a disgrace he was, or how quickly he fell for the heroine’s charms upon entering the academy, I didn’t give up trying to instill some basic common sense in him.

Speaking of the heroine… wow, she really was the most shameless person I’ve ever met. She seemed to flirt with every man she came across. No, wait—it wasn’t random. She clearly targeted men with power and good looks.

Anyway, the heroine constantly tried to talk to her potential love interests, but thanks to my earlier efforts, they all responded with criticism and pushback.

Of course it was outrageous. Approaching men who already had fiancées, casually striking up conversations, and even going so far as to touch them? That level of behavior is beyond inappropriate.

I may not have a fiancée myself, but even so, I have no interest in dealing with someone so blatantly lacking in common sense.

…Well, it’s not like I had time for a fiancée anyway, with how busy I’ve been. And to be honest, I wasn’t interested to begin with. As the third son with no inheritance in sight, my parents never pressured me about it either.
