If Diamonds Are Love — Part 1

When Bao Yong stepped into the VIP room, Leslie seized the opportunity to give her a subtle signal. Without missing a beat, Bao Yong walked two steps forward without revealing any emotion. The guests were a man and a woman. The light reflected off the black velvet before them, showcasing an array of dazzling carat diamonds.

The female guest was very young. Her fingers were delicate and fair, and she tried on each ring one by one. After quite some time, she didn’t seem entirely satisfied and asked directly, “Do you have anything better?”

Bao Yong smiled warmly and responded in a soft voice, “We have loose diamonds over five carats. May I ask if you have any specific preferences for color or clarity?”

The young woman hesitated for a moment and glanced coyly at her male companion. He, appearing nonchalant, gave a slight nod. “Let’s take a look,” he said.

Bao Yong remained calm and composed. Having risen to the position of store manager in less than five years, she had developed an intuitive understanding of what type of diamond each customer was likely to buy.

In the end, the guests selected a 3.5-carat loose diamond. Although it wasn’t particularly large, its D color and flawless quality made it extraordinarily valuable. They also chose a ring setting and scheduled the mounting. Bao Yong personally escorted the guests to the door and handed over her business card. “Thank you, Mr. Wang. If there’s anything you need, please feel free to contact us directly.”

It was only when Bao Yong spoke that the man turned to look at her. In that fleeting moment, Bao Yong felt as if his gaze could pierce through the night, sharp as lightning. Yet, that intense look lingered on her face for only a moment before retreating just as swiftly.

Later, Wang Li was impressed by her perceptiveness. “How did you know my surname was Wang?”

Bao Yong smiled but said nothing.

That day in the store, Wang Li had said very little, standing quietly by his companion’s side. Although his outfit appeared unremarkable, Bao Yong recognized that his seemingly modest suit was tailored by a century-old boutique on Savile Row in London. The suits from that shop, which holds three Royal Warrants, are known for their impeccable fit, evident when the wearer stands perfectly straight.

A man willing to fly to London three times for fittings and wait three months for a bespoke handmade suit—what kind of diamond would he choose for his companion?

Without hesitation, Bao Yong recommended a flawless diamond worth millions.
