Loving You Was the Best Thing I Ever Did — Chapter 3: Agastache. Part 1

After dinner, Shen Xi Fan planned to go to bed early and sleep away those dreadful memories. But before she could relax, a supervisor came running toward her.

“Manager Shen, there’s been an incident!”

She immediately jumped up, fully alert. “What happened?”

“The guest in Villa No. 7 in Zone C is complaining about Room Service!”

Her temples began to throb for no reason. “Zone C, Villa No. 7... Ling... something?”

The supervisor nodded.

“Let’s go take a look.”

The winter night was freezing. Shen Xi Fan wore only a simple suit, and the thin fabric offered no protection against the cold. Zone C was by the water, where the wind was even colder. She shivered and sneezed multiple times as they approached.

Villa No. 7 had its door wide open. Ling Yu Fan leaned against the frame, his shirt barely buttoned, lazily twirling his glasses with a low chuckle. Beside him stood a server, her hair disheveled, shoulders trembling as tears streaked her makeup.

Shen Xi Fan could guess what had happened, but in front of this troublesome young master, she had to play dumb. Carefully, she asked, “Good evening, Mr. Ling. Could you let me know what about our Room Service failed to meet your expectations?”

Ling Yu Fan squinted his enchanting eyes, scrutinizing Shen Xi Fan before drawling, “Your hotel’s Room Service offers quite a variety of services. I didn’t realize it even includes... sleeping with guests.”

Though anger bubbled inside her, Shen Xi Fan kept her tone calm. “Mr. Ling, please clarify. If there’s any mistake on our part, we will address it immediately.”

With a cold snort, he replied, “Manager Shen, can’t you tell what happened? Or are you just pretending to be ignorant?” His half-buttoned shirt fluttered in the wind, revealing a toned physique.

Shen Xi Fan patiently explained, “I believe this is a misunderstanding. Mr. Ling, I sincerely apologize for failing to manage my staff properly and for the inconvenience caused to you. Please forgive us.”

“Misunderstanding? Oh, what a funny word. I simply ordered a late-night snack, and your Room Attendant decided to treat me as the main course. How do you explain that?”

Shen Xi Fan refused to believe that the server would have initiated this. Yet, suppressing her indignation, she replied, “Mr. Ling, we will handle this matter seriously and provide you with a satisfactory resolution by tomorrow morning. To express our apologies, we will upgrade your status to VIP, offer complimentary access to our golf course, and grant you free membership. Please accept our apologies for this unfortunate incident.”

Ling Yu Fan laughed—a mocking, provocative laugh. Suddenly, he leaned closer, his breath brushing against her cheek as he murmured, “Then, Manager Shen, would you be willing to personally ‘compensate’ me?”

Shen Xi Fan ignored him, maintaining a neutral expression as she bowed slightly. “If there’s nothing else, Mr. Ling, I’ll take my leave. We will notify you of the resolution tomorrow. Goodnight.”

Ling Yu Fan seemed momentarily taken aback. He adjusted his glasses, casting a playful glance at Shen Xi Fan, noticing her unwavering and fearless gaze. Intrigued, he turned and stepped inside, finally closing the door.

Shen Xi Fan exhaled deeply, relieved.

Once they were away from Zone C and back on the path, Shen Xi Fan asked, “What exactly happened?”
