Loving You Was the Best Thing I Ever Did — Chapter 27: Angelica Sinensis. Part 3

It was a theory on administrative management, and she was left speechless. Management theories were so abstract that even she sometimes couldn’t fully understand them. But whenever she tried to simplify the language, it was deemed “not professional enough.” After all, she wasn’t formally trained in management.

Shen Xi Fan was utterly defeated. She had no fight left in her and obediently returned to the library to continue her research. As she read, the letters on the page seemed to dance, and each line she struggled through made no sense. Sleepiness crept in, and her body instinctively leaned forward.

On the brink of dozing off, she suddenly banged her head on the edge of the thick book. The sharp pain made her gasp, jolting her awake.

She rubbed the sore spot on her head and prepared to resume reading, but a stifled laugh came from behind her. Turning around, she saw Lin Yi Shen standing there, carrying a bag and holding a few books, his eyes fixed on her paper.

Shen Xi Fan didn’t even want to lift her eyelids. She sighed heavily and muttered, “Redoing it. Please don’t disturb.”

Lin Yi Shen didn’t leave. He flipped through her paper quickly and then asked, “What’s the issue?”

“The theory section on Operations Management!” She propped her head up weakly, absentmindedly twirling a pen in her hand. “The advisor said it’s not professional enough. Not professional! If I were that professional, I’d be doing an MBA instead of MMH.”

Lin Yi Shen chuckled. “Such a small issue. Why didn’t you tell me earlier? Don’t think so little of your senior, who happens to be from this field. That theory they’re asking for is too demanding for you guys, but it’s child’s play for us. Send me your paper—I’ll take a look.”

Realizing it was almost impossible for her to perfect the theoretical section on her own, Shen Xi Fan nodded and immediately handed over all her materials.

Seeing her dazed expression, Lin Yi Shen sighed. “How many nights have you been up? Your advisor is really merciless. Never mind, I’ll look at it right away. You should go back and rest. Once I’ve revised it, I’ll find you.”

She felt utterly drained, with no strength left in her body. Still, she forced a wry smile and quipped, “Between the exams and papers, I feel like I’ve aged ten years in just a few days.”

Lin Yi Shen retorted with mock exasperation, “You look like you’ve just crawled out of a grave. Alright, go home. I’ll find you later.”

Nodding, she slung her bag over her shoulder, waved goodbye, and walked out of the library. The bitter cold enveloped her like an unforgiving net, chilling her to the bone. Looking up at the darkening Ithaca sky, she noticed the light seemed to dim further—it was going to snow.

Lin Yi Shen watched her retreating figure and sighed softly. Sitting back in his seat, he opened his laptop. His friend next to him finally snapped out of his thoughts and remarked, “That girl looks a lot like your girlfriend at first glance!”

“What girlfriend? Since when did I have one?” Lin Yi Shen looked at his friend in confusion.

“Hey! Don’t deny it. The petite girl who came to find you last Christmas.”

“She’s not my girlfriend. I told you it’s none of your business.” Meeting his friend’s skeptical gaze, he sighed. “It’s complicated, and I made mistakes too. Let’s leave it at that.”

His friend wouldn’t let it go. “That junior you mentioned before—isn’t she the same girl we just saw? It’s strange; they really do look alike!”

Lin Yi Shen pointed at his laptop. “Focus on work. Keep gossiping, and you’ll never finish that report!”
