Shen Xi Fan sympathized. “Good thing nothing happened on the guest room side. Otherwise, ten heads wouldn’t be enough to deal with the headache.”
The Gu Nan Hua Pavilion wasn’t the city’s most luxurious hotel, but its uniquely styled guest rooms gave it an edge. The Jing Pavilion featured Chinese-style rooms, suites, and villas, while the Xin Pavilion offered Western-style accommodations.
It was no wonder Shen Xi Fan felt so much pressure—her job came with significant challenges.
Just then, her walkie-talkie crackled to life. The general manager’s secretary called, “The GM wants to see you in his office.”
Feeling a bit apprehensive, Shen Xi Fan noticed Ding Wei smirking. “Eat a good lunch—you’ll need it to blow off steam!”
She shot him a glare. “Ding Wei, do you want me to hire some hooligans to give you trouble so you can have more late-night snacks?”
In the GM’s office, Cheng Dongqian was already waiting, along with managers from the PR, security, and engineering departments. Cheng gestured for her to sit. “I’ve called you here about the VIP room bookings. I want everyone to get familiar with the details.”
The secretary handed out documents. Skimming through, Shen Xi Fan realized the hotel would be hosting VIPs for an upcoming IT summit.
No wonder it was such a big deal. The wealthy were like royalty.
Pity her frazzled nerves—another round of chaos awaited.
The document detailed tasks for the housekeeping department: ensuring seamless communication with the front desk, keeping VIP preferences in mind, regularly cross-checking room statuses, and assisting with meal services to ease the breakfast rush. The workload was daunting.
Before she could finish lamenting her fate, Xu Xiang Ya, the F&B manager, entered with an armful of documents, handing them out as if she were hawking wares on the street. “Here you go, study these carefully. Let’s work well together!”
Shen Xi Fan rolled her eyes but had no choice but to stay late, drafting plans and organizing materials.
Just as she was wrapping up, Lin Yi Shen from PR found her, informing her that one of the summit’s VIPs, Boss Duan, had arrived—a full week early.
Chaos ensued as she scrambled for documents. Thankfully, Lin Yi Shen was helpful, and Xu Xiang Ya conveniently took over catering arrangements, leaving Shen Xi Fan to focus on the guest rooms.
She personally inspected the villa reserved for Boss Duan, ensuring everything was perfect. Even her team leaders were on edge, not daring to make any mistakes.
At 9 p.m., Boss Duan arrived, accompanied by the GM. Shen Xi Fan stood to the side, mustering her energy.
Boss Duan was pleased with dinner, complimenting the meal repeatedly. He even chatted with the GM about how long it had been since he’d tasted his hometown’s delicacies. Xu Xiang Ya’s efforts had paid off.
When he saw the villa, Boss Duan exclaimed, “The GM really understands my taste!”
The GM pointed to Shen Xi Fan. “This is all thanks to our housekeeping manager—I had nothing to do with it!”
Boss Duan praised her in halting Mandarin, “Manager Shen very careful. I very satisfied. Very, very satisfied!”
Later, Shen Xi Fan heated her herbal medicine, wolfed down her dinner, and accidentally drank the medicine thinking it was water. The licorice sweetness lingered, mirroring her mood—exhausted yet content.
