The group stopped and turned to look at her. Most of them were from their science-focused class, which had more boys than girls. One of them asked, “Didn’t someone already volunteer to walk you home? How’d you end up here?”
Su Wan didn’t say a word. She walked forward, grabbed Li Chengran’s sleeve, and started crying—silent, steady tears rolling down her face like raindrops.
The boys, though drunk, were still somewhat clear-headed. They glanced at Su Wan, then at Li Chengran, exchanging awkward looks.
Su Wan kept crying without saying a word, clutching his sleeve tightly.
The scene remained still for a moment until Li Chengran finally took her hand and held it in his palm. “Let’s go,” he said. “I’ll take you home.”
Su Wan didn’t respond, just kept crying.
Li Chengran walked her all the way to her building. By then, her face was swollen from crying, and she looked at him pitifully. “After this... I’ll never see you again, will I?”
Li Chengran didn’t answer. He simply took out the last tissue from his pocket and handed it to her. “You’re home now.”
He watched as Su Wan used the tissue to blow her nose, sniffling as she trudged into the building and took the elevator upstairs.
She cried so much...
Li Chengran tossed the empty tissue pack into the trash and glanced up at her window on the 18th floor. The light was on. Only then did he leave.

Su Wan truly believed she would never see Li Chengran again.
That was until the university acceptance letters arrived, and Wang Xin called her, bursting with excitement. Su Wan had been admitted to X University. Li Chengran was also going to X University.
And Su Wan... was also going to X University.
The words “never see him again” instantly turned into a distant, silly dream.
Her family was so happy about her acceptance that they finally granted her a request she had been making for three years—to let her learn Taekwondo.
Su Wan wanted to learn Taekwondo, not for self-defense, but because Li Chengran practiced it too.
She finally got her wish, though Li Chengran was in the advanced class while she was in the beginner’s class.
Wearing a white belt and running alongside a group of middle schoolers, Su Wan felt ancient. After her first practice, her entire body ached, and she felt like her bones had snapped. As she left the dojo, she happened to run into Li Chengran, who was exiting the advanced class.
