Cang Hai Plays with the Qilin — Chapter 16. The Enchanting Bone Incense. Part 1

After slaughtering the six Zhang clan members, Zhang Pei Shan tossed their corpses into the Forbidden Cave of the Banshee and turned to leave.

Moments later, from the darkness beyond the cave, a lone figure emerged and stepped into the dim light.

It was none other than Wang Cang Hai—disguised as Wan Bao.

From the moment Qilin had arrived with the six Zhang clan members, Wang Cang Hai had been secretly following them. Before long, he noticed that Zhang Pei Shan was also tracking Qilin and his group.

Thus, Wang Cang Hai concealed his presence and shadowed Zhang Pei Shan from behind.

Everything that had just unfolded—Zhang Pei Shan’s sudden ambush, his brutal execution of his own clansmen, and his shocking revelation—had all been seen and heard by Wang Cang Hai.

His gaze darkened as he studied the entrance to the Forbidden Cave.

From what the Zhang clan members had said, this place was extremely dangerous—even their own clan leader would struggle to survive inside.

And Zhang Pei Shan…

Now, it was clear. He was not only ruthless but also treacherous.

He had murdered the real Zhang Qi Ling half a year ago.

If Wan San’s disappearance was connected to the Zhang clan, then Zhang Pei Shan was undoubtedly involved. To find out what had happened to Wan San, Wang Cang Hai would have to continue tracking him.

By his original plan, Wang Cang Hai was supposed to seek out Zhang Hai Wang and Zhang Hai Xing, convincing them to introduce "Wan Bao" to Zhang Pei Shan.

But now…

Now, he remained rooted in place.

Because he was deeply curious.

Who was that masked youth pretending to be the Zhang clan leader?

What were they talking about—"Qilin blood" and "corpse beetles"?

Vice Patriarch, please save the clan leader! Hurry and pull him out! If he falls deeper into the banshee’s grasp, there will be no saving him!

That desperate plea echoed in Wang Cang Hai’s mind.

Then, with a single leap, he dove into the Forbidden Cave of the Banshee.

He propelled himself deeper, cutting through the eerie green waters, searching for the masked youth.

Dark, thread-like strands floated eerily in the jade-green depths.

They were dense. Too dense.

At first, they resembled overgrown fat choy moss.

No—more like long, tangled strands of human hair.

As Wang Cang Hai swam further, he realized the truth.

The strands of hair were wrapped tightly around human bodies.

One, two… six of them.

All six were Zhang clan members.

They were already dead.

Their masks had fallen off, exposing their faces to the murky water.

Ignoring the corpses, Wang Cang Hai silently recited a water-repelling incantation and carefully maneuvered around the strands.

Then, a sudden metallic tang filled the water.

Blood.

He glanced sideways at one of the corpses.

The strands of hair had burrowed deep into the flesh, carving grotesque grooves into the body.

And then—

Something even more horrifying.

Some strands slithered into the corpse’s mouth and nostrils, only to emerge from the eye sockets and ears.

Thick, black blood seeped out from those hollowed openings, dyeing the emerald water red.

Wang Cang Hai’s heart clenched.

He had not yet seen the banshee itself—but the danger was already suffocating.

Suddenly, the water churned violently.

A fierce struggle was unfolding nearby.

Wang Cang Hai turned.

The masked youth was there.

His back was to Wang Cang Hai, locked in battle against an unseen foe.

Strands of hair—lithe, predatory—lashed out from the darkness, twisting and writhing in the water, trying to ensnare him.
