Cang Hai Plays with the Qilin — Chapter 17. The Stone Man of Mi Luo Tu. Part 3

And then the entire stone wall started shaking violently.

“Not good!” Qilin yelled. “The tunnel is collapsing!”

Wang Cang Hai instinctively stepped forward, placing himself in front of Qilin.

Suddenly—

Four massive figures burst out from within the stone wall.

They were towering, broad-shouldered, and inhumanly strong.

Their massive fists swung wildly, shattering chunks of rock as they stepped out of their stone prisons.

Although they moved slowly, each step was incredibly heavy, leaving behind deep footprints in the ground.

And as they moved, more and more of them broke free from the rock walls—

More stone giants emerged.

“Damn it!” Qilin cursed. “It’s Mi Luo Tu!”

He grabbed Wang Cang Hai’s arm before the latter could make a move to attack.

Wang Cang Hai shot him a questioning look.

Qilin spoke in a low, urgent tone.

“Mi Luo Tu are ancestral stone spirits.

“They’re indestructible—as unyielding as bedrock.

“They cannot be killed.”

Wang Cang Hai withdrew his hand.

His expression remained calm.

“What do you suggest, then?”

Qilin’s eyes hardened.

“I don’t know for sure,” he admitted, “but I’ll give it a try.”

With a sharp flick of his fingers, Qilin traced a symbol in the air.

A bright white glow erupted from his fingertips—

And eight razor-thin, glowing threads shot forward.

Two threads per stone giant—

They coiled around their massive limbs like serpent’s snares.

The Mi Luo Tu giants struggled, but the threads tightened instantly—

Immobilizing them.

Wang Cang Hai narrowed his eyes, watching closely.

The glowing threads weren’t ordinary strings—

They were banshee’s hair strands, imbued with a powerful curse.

Earlier, when fighting the banshee, Qilin had cleverly collected a handful of hair strands—

And now, he was using them as restraints.

“Like a rock, the man remains—
Like reeds, the woman bends.
Thin as silk, the reeds may be—
Yet they bind the stone eternally.”

Wang Cang Hai pondered the ancient verse.

The Mi Luo Tu were immensely strong, impervious to normal attacks.

Yet, ironically, they were restrained by something as delicate as hair.

Using the banshee’s own weapon against them—

Qilin was truly resourceful.

Qilin tightened the glowing threads, trapping all four giants in an immovable bundle.

Then, he pointed toward the newly opened tunnel.

“Come on,” he grinned. “Let’s check it out—maybe it leads to an exit.”

Wang Cang Hai nodded.

The two of them walked past the fallen Mi Luo Tu, making their way toward the dark opening ahead.

As they passed by the trapped stone giants, Wang Cang Hai suddenly paused.

He turned slightly, examining the restrained Mi Luo Tu.

His fingers itched to destroy them completely—

But he didn’t act immediately.

Instead, he glanced at Qilin.

Qilin let out a quiet sigh, as if reading his thoughts.

“These Mi Luo Tu have lost their minds,” he said.

“They only attack on instinct.

“If I keep them bound long enough, they’ll eventually calm down.”

Wang Cang Hai’s voice was steady, neither questioning nor reproachful.

“You don’t want to kill them.”

Qilin smiled sheepishly.

“Well… It’s a little embarrassing to admit, but—”

“Mi Luo Tu are actually our ancestors.

“They were sealed into stone using an ancient ritual.”

Wang Cang Hai’s expression remained unreadable.

He simply stated, “Mi Luo Tu is a secret technique from Dong Xia.

“It was part of an abandoned experiment—an attempt to achieve immortality.”

Qilin’s face changed drastically.

His eyes widened in shock.

“You…” He took a step closer, lowering his voice.

“You know about Dong Xia?”
