On the Night of the Broken Engagement — Part 7

In the end, he vowed, “I will never keep secrets from you again for as long as I live!”

Thanks to that, we are now considered the second most affectionate couple in the palace.

Tonight’s performance was also a milestone—the theater’s renovations had finally been completed. To commemorate the occasion, tickets for this first show were sold at half price.

Still, I had been worried. There was a strict dress code for the premiere, and I wondered if such conditions would deter the audience.

However, when Leo and I arrived at the theater, I was astonished—the venue was completely packed.

The scent of freshly cut wood lingered in the grand new theater. While ensuring Leo didn’t trip, I made my way to our assigned seats.

It seemed that, thanks to the discounted tickets, many commoners had come to see the show.

Seated beside us were two rather distinctive figures—one was a large person in a pink dress with brown braided hair, while the other was a smaller individual dressed in a gray suit.

As the curtain rose, the performance began.

It was a well-known comedy. The exaggerated antics of the characters quickly sent waves of laughter rippling through the audience. The person in the pink dress beside me was laughing so hard that their entire seat shook.

Though I was also laughing, my anticipation was focused on William. What role would he play? I kept watching, waiting for him to appear.

But no matter how long I waited, he did not.

Then, Leo leaned in and whispered into my ear.

“That’s my brother.”

I blinked, completely confused.

But now that he mentioned it… the voice…

I stared in shock.

Former First Prince William was playing the role of a mischievous noble lady.

I had assumed she simply had an unusually deep voice, but to think it was him…!

Before I could fully process this revelation, Leo leaned in again, his floral cologne filling the air as he whispered,

“That prince over there—that’s Lady Tiara. And the nanny? That’s Stefan, the janitor. The men are playing female roles, and the women are playing male roles. Fascinating, isn’t it?”

I gasped once again.

Now that I looked at it with that in mind, the characters did seem oddly small for men, while the women’s voices were surprisingly deep.

Realizing this added a whole new depth to the comedy—it was both hilarious and intriguing.

As the play neared its climax, the series of misunderstandings between William’s mischievous noblewoman and the prince piled up, triggering waves of uncontrollable laughter throughout the audience.

Then, the story delivered an unexpected yet delightful twist, ending on a cheerful, happy note as the curtain fell.

Applause and joy filled the theater.
