When Spring Ends, I Shall See You Again — Volume 2. Chapter 10: The Art of Seduction. Part 1

More than a month had passed, and the weather had turned cold.

The moonlight was clear, casting a pale glow over the vast courtyard. In the deep of night, lanterns still burned along the corridors of the prince’s residence, while guards patrolled in steady intervals. In contrast, the rear garden was eerily quiet—most of the maids had already gone to sleep, and those who remained awake had gathered in a corner, idly chatting and neglecting their duties. The once-sprawling garden now felt vast and desolate, with its rockeries, pond, and bamboo groves bathed in silver moonlight.

Suddenly, a hushed, breathless giggle echoed from the shadows, tinged with a sultry undertone that sent warmth rushing to the ears.

A young man and woman were entwined among the rock formations, unabashedly indulging in their passion.

The woman was bent over one of the jagged stones, while the man took her from behind, his face alight with excitement as he thrust into her with fervent intensity. His hands were far from idle, gripping her slender waist, driving her to the peak of pleasure with relentless force.

Hong Ning had merely come out for a walk, unable to sleep—only to stumble upon this unexpected scene.

At first, she was momentarily stunned, but she quickly regained her composure. The main gates were already closed for the night, and this was the rear garden of the prince’s estate. That meant the man was most likely a servant. While Yang Zhen was never particularly strict about such matters outside his home, he maintained a rigorous household discipline, especially when it came to propriety. Under normal circumstances, even casual conversations between male servants and maids were rare.

But in a household as large as this one, anything could happen.

With the right bribe, sneaking into the rear garden was hardly difficult—just a few coins to the older women guarding the courtyard would do the trick. Still, this particular servant was far too bold.

What caught Hong Ning’s attention, however, was the woman’s identity.

From her current angle, the woman’s face was obscured, but her clothing stood out in the moonlight—a sheer, silver-threaded gown that shimmered faintly, delicate as mist. This was far from the rough, plain fabrics worn by the household maids. Could it be that such a hidden beauty was residing in the estate?

Hong Ning had lived in the garden for over a month and, aside from the two concubines, she had seen no other women in Yang Zhen’s company.

Her mind raced with possibilities, but no explanation seemed to fit.

Deciding that it was best not to linger, she turned to leave—only for the woman to suddenly shift, tilting her face ever so slightly.

Hong Ning gasped sharply, stunned.

It was a face of exceptional beauty.

Realization struck like a bolt of lightning.

This was no ordinary woman—this was Lady Wang, Yang Zhen’s concubine.

Yang Zhen had brought only two concubines to Chong Zhou—one surnamed Qu, the other Wang. And yet, here was Lady Wang, locked in illicit passion with a mere servant.

Brazen.

Reckless.

Unbelievable.

Behind her, the man’s movements only grew more frantic. Lady Wang arched her back, letting out high-pitched moans of pleasure. Yet, despite the obscene sounds, her expression remained distant—cold and detached, almost devoid of desire.

But her eyes…

Her eyes were unlike any Hong Ning had ever seen. Deep, unfathomable, holding a mysterious allure that was impossible to resist.

For a fleeting moment, Hong Ning felt lightheaded, as if she, too, had been drawn into the woman’s spell. The realization sent a chill down her spine, and she quickly averted her gaze.

What captivating beauty.
