As soon as the formation was activated, a powerful force crashed down on Lu Jiu.
His body was forced back, slamming him onto the ground.
The overwhelming pressure was unbearable.
Finally, unable to endure it, he roared in rage.
“Hu Yue! You wretched traitor!
“Get out hereNOW!”
Hu Yue had already heard the commotion outside.
Just as she stepped out to check, she was shocked at the sight before her.
“What are you doing?
“Cousin, stop at once!
“For my sake, at least!”
Hong Ning didn’t hesitate.
Her sword flashed as she thrust forward.
With his weakened powers, Lu Jiu barely managed to dodge and parry.
He cursed furiously.
“You blind fool!
“What a wonderful sister you’ve chosen!
“You still believe her even now?”
Then he turned to Hong Ning, his voice cold.
“I held back because I’m bound by Heaven’s laws.
“But don’t push your luck.”
Hong Ning’s tone was even colder.
“A life for a life.
“If Heaven’s laws were truly so effective,
“Would you still be standing here alive?”
Hu Yue sensed something was off.
She didn’t have time to think it through
She immediately raised her hand, summoning a white silk ribbon, trying to force her way into the fight.
But as soon as the ribbon neared the Eight Trigrams Formation,
It was as if it had slammed into an invisible wall.
She couldn’t get through.
Her Samadhi True Fire refused to ignite
And she wasn’t stupid.
She instantly realized
It was the wine.
She had been tricked.
A wave of regret surged through her.
Her eyes burned with anger as she pointed at Hong Ning, furious.
“I thought you were sincere!
“How could you turn against my cousin?!
“Despicable!”
Hong Ning held her sword firm.
“I harmed him?” she sneered.
“This is his karma.
“My senior brother died by his hands.
“He walks free while my brother will never return.
“In Heaven and on Earth, where is justice?”
Hu Yue froze.
This couldn’t drag on.
The fight would eventually alert the City God and the Earth Deities.
Hong Ning knew she couldn’t waste time.
She seized the moment, chanting an incantation
And summoned the Demon-Illuminating Mirror.
A blinding radiance exploded from the sky, locking Lu Jiu within the Eight Trigrams Formation.
Born a Nine-Tailed Fox, Lu Jiu had never abandoned his demonic nature.
Spoiled by the Northern Realm Queen, he had grown reckless and arrogant
Unruly, with no regard for rules.
But now
Completely enraged, he no longer cared about holding back.
With a low growl, his body shifted.
His true form emerged
Silver-white fur gleamed under the moonlight,
And five massive, fluffy tails lashed behind him.
Lu Jiu glared at the mirror above, then let out a cold laugh.
“You think a piece of scrap metal can restrain me?”
His razor-sharp claws struck out
A crackling explosion
The Demon-Illuminating Mirror shattered into a thousand shards.
Hong Ning stepped aside, dodging a flying fragment.
She raised a brow, mildly surprised.
“As expected,” she mused,
“The Nine-Tailed Fox Clan is indeed formidable.”
Her voice was calm, but she wasn’t shaken.
With a flick of her fingers, she released a handful of wooden beads.
The beads rained down in a swift barrage.
Lu Jiu twisted his body, dodging most of them
But one hit his chest.
A searing pain ripped through him.
He staggered, unable to break free of the formation.
His heart sank.
Clenching his teeth, he forced himself to hold on.
Hong Ning lifted her peachwood sword.
Biting the tip of her tongue, she spat blood onto the blade
Then swung it down toward him.
Lu Jiu knew that staying inside the formation meant his spiritual power would rapidly deplete.
His eyes turned red with frustration.
Screw the Heavenly Laws.
Screw human lives.
He wasn’t going to die here.
With one fierce motion, he lashed out
His claws slashed the peachwood sword in half.
But the force of the attack knocked him backward,
And a spray of blood burst from his lips.
